Men ... Have you ever read Proverbs 31? I can bet your wife has and it has her shaking in her boots, which according to this book she would have made herself in the middle of the night while everyone else was sleeping. Proverbs 31 is a lesson given to a son from his mother about the “perfect wife.”
Men, we do a poor job of taking notice of how hard our wives strive to achieve this model of perfection, and when we notice, we do a poor job of verbalizing it. So wives (especially my wife), thank you for:
Being clothed in fine linen and purple (aka for always looking so hot when we go out ... and for making sure I’m dressed half way decent). Making sure your husband is respected at the city gate (aka, for not letting me embarrass myself in public or be a conceited know-it-all-bragger on Facebook). Encouraging me. Comforting me. Serving the poor. Rising up early (wait, you're still working on that one, but thanks for trying). Not being lazy. Being a giver not a taker. Making wise choices with our money. Not being selfish. Keeping your body strong, healthy and so darn fine (last line may not from Proverbs). Being dignified and for not taking life too seriously. Thank you for having a kind heart, not being a gossip, making our house a home and most importantly fearing the Lord and helping instill the love of God into the hearts of our kids.
Guys, read Proverbs 31. Then praise your wife for striving to be this virtuous woman, a woman of worth and beauty, the perfect 31.
